The Nukes

Yesterday in Paihia School the Nukes came to perform a few songs for us and some students from Russell. There was also a few lucky students that got to go to a workshop with the Nukes, I was one of the lucky ones. We got to learn some chords on the Ukulele we learnt C7,C,F and the G7 chord. We had to switch between these chords .  The Nukes taught us to play a song on the Ukulele called Peas and Carrots. We learnt another song without the Ukulele when we had to do actions to a song called Two Potatoes and again another song with actions called worms. After that we ended up being called the crazy chickens. I enjoyed playing the Ukulele and performing in front of an audience.

Maths DLO

In Te Ngahere we have been learning a new strategy called doubling and halving and the other one is trebling and thirding they’re basically the same just trebling and thirding is using using 3 to divide and multiply and doubling and halving is using 2 to divide and multiply. The strategy is used with big multiplication equations to simplify the question. After nailing the strategy we made a DLO about it and we got an example like 15 x 18 and figured it out step by step the question I used was 3 x 240. I really enjoyed using the strategy and I was really good at doing the maths. I think next time I should use a different example. I could explain how to solve the question better next time.
