Cross Country Practise
In Te Ngahere we have been practising for cross country. We had to run from the bike shed around the field, around the pump track, then to the stairs in front of the whare over to the court and around it ,then back over the veranda back to the bike shed twice. On my first run I took 5 minutes and 32 seconds I did 5 mins and 2 seconds on my second run then added 10 secs on my last run. I think I did pretty well because usually I’m not good at cross country and don’t do very well. After each practise we wrote our time in our book. At the end of last week we made a line graph to keep track of our times. I really enjoy doing cross country but I think next practise I should pace myself better.
science fair
In Te Ngahere we have been doing projects for science fair. Ben and I chose to be buddies for science fair and chose to find out what is the best insulation for hot water in a bottle and ice in an ice cream container. So far we have finished our plan and are now wrapping up the bottles and ice cream containers in the materials. The materials Ben and I have chose are cardboard, paper, tinfoil, polystyrene and packing blanket. I have enjoyed learning about insulation and how it works which I still don’t exactly understand. I think next time we should only do the test on the ice cream containers because you can’t wrap the water bottles in polystyrene.

korowai
In Te Ngahere we have been designing feathers to make a class Korowai. I enjoy making the Korowai and the feathers. On the back of the feathers we added our goals in life. I found making the feathers really fun and drawing my designs. I think next time I could choose some different patterns instead of using my usual designs I use. I think the Korowai will look really cool with everyone's designs on it.

Statistics
Yesterday in Te Ngahere we learnt about Statistics. In statistics we had to look at two types of graphs. One was a pie chart and the other one was a bar graph. We had to pick which graph was better. We all picked the bar graph because it was simple to read and is easier to find out which author is better. After doing that we had to make a different graph to show the data. In the data we learnt which author is more popular than the other. I liked learning statistics in maths and I hope we continue doing stuff like this in maths. Here is my DLO for Statistics/Graphs. Statistics is a maths strategy all around gathering data and examining it then putting it into graphs.
